Use in Joomla form

Hi Trying to use the combobox in a Jooma form. I have it displaying and working fine, but when I submit the for Joomla uses the standard HTML conventions of submitting all the named fields in the form, and there seems to be no obvious way to give this control a name. I guess I could intercept the Submit button and use your API to get the currently selected values and put them into a named hidden field in my form, but that seems overly complicated.
