I believe I’ve found a bug – or at least some odd behavior with the grid. If you don’t populate the grid during initialization of the grid and sortable=true, then each time you refresh the grid, the sortcolumn won’t work. It appears that it gets reset to null during the initialization of the grid.

Hello alexn,

You could try on that way:
$('#jqxgrid').jqxGrid('updatebounddata', 'sort');
