how can I avoid entering any signs, symbols, special charcters in the grid cells

Hi,

In order to allow only numbers and avoid alphabets and any special characters in the cells of the grid, I am using columntype:’numberinput’,
but I am able to enter minus sign(-) , apostrophe(‘) etc,

please let me know how can I avoid entering any signs, symbols, special charcters in the grid cells??

Hi ssp,

The column’s “validation” function allows you to validate Users Input. The function’s result can be true or false depending on whether the validation passed or failed. You can look at the Cell Editing demo available online which shows how to validate user’s input.

On “key press” event only we need to avoid the invalid characters(like minus,apostrophe etc), means we need to allow only digits with one decimal point (like 4.5,46.5 etc). No negative values and special characters should be allowed.

Hi ssp,

The solution I suggested you does not use custom events(which by the way you cannot use with the numberInput editor), and I suggest you to try it out. You can validate the result and that is the way you can use with our Grid.
