I know that this is a strange question but is there a way to hide the dropdown indicator. My situation is that something I do no know if the field that I am displaying has a data source behind it. I know– how can I not know — well it is dependent upon the user. I can create an standard input box programmatically if there are no values loaded but it would be 100% simpler if I could just hide the dropdown and use it as standard user input. I need to do this for about 10 input areas on a form and don’t want to hurt performance.

You may try this solution: http://jsfiddle.net/jqwidgets/96xn4wu4/

That’s perfect– I try to be diligent and look in the API on the demo page for all of my questions and I went back to look for showArrow but did not find it. Again– Thanks
