I am using jqWidgets v14.
I started noticing an extremely odd and disconcerting behavior in the grid widget, primarily when using Chrome browser.
I have about 30 rows inside the grid. Sometimes if I hover over another button on page, or even more so, when I hover over another Chrome tab at the top, the rows in the grid literally disappear from the view! If I hover over where the rows are supposed to be they start to paint back in one-by-one. I can do this almost at will when using Chrome. I don’t see the same behavior when using Edge browser.
In Chrome I have ‘hardware acceleration’ set to OFF, as I read that this may cause visual problems for other graphics (outside of jqwidgets)
Is this a known issue? Do I need to upgrade to another version. The last stable, paid version I got from you guys was 14.
Please let me know ASAP.
Thank you!
RobHi,
May you try updating to the latest version and return to us whether the problem still exists?

https://www.jqwidgets.com/Hi,
Actually I am using/evaluating v16 after having issues with v14. I know I posted something on the forum which I cannot find now.I will give v17 a shot and reply back.
Thank you.
RobHello again – I am not sure if the last message got posted….
Hi,
I downloaded and installed v17 with the same results.
This is so distressing and one of the worst issues I have reported on the forum. To confirm, have about 19 rows inside the grid. Sometimes if I hover over another jq-button on page, or even more so, when I hover over another Chrome tab at the top, the rows in the grid literally disappear from the view! If I hover over where the rows are supposed to be they start to paint back in one-by-one. I can do this almost at will when using Chrome. I don’t see the same behavior when using Edge browser.
I have done this with my own app and jsfiddle using some of your sample code.In Chrome I have ‘hardware acceleration’ set to OFF, as I read that this may cause visual problems for other graphics (outside of jqwidgets)
Any ideas on this?

Hi,
This behaviour is bizarre, I could not reproduce it.
Can you share jsfiddle where this happens?Best regards,

https://www.jqwidgets.com/Hi,
When I set Chrome settings for ‘hardware acceleration’ OFF it happens in any grid view. I’ve done it in my own apps as well as some of yours from the demos. There is definitely a timing to it, but it happens pretty consistently. When I change ‘hardware acceleration’ to ON the problem seems to resolve. The only issue is that I cannot rely on the fact the my users will have ‘hardware acceleration’ ON as it’s been reported that it can cause other browser issues.Really not sure what other info I can give you, but my users witnessed it first, then I witnessed it.
If you have any other suggestions, I’m open to them.
Thanks.
RobWe are experiencing the same issue. Turning on ‘hardware acceleration’ in chrome did help. The customer is running chrome 117.0.5938.150 (64-bit). We are using jqwidgets 16.0.0. Is there a way to capture chrome logs for this behavior?
We are seeing a similar issue, running JQWidgets 12.1.2 (yes, very old). This started with Chrome’s Sept 2023 update.
Our grids have up to 500 rows displayed, and over 100 columns.Starting with the chrome update, specifically on user machines with minimal memory (8GB), we started getting reports of screens failing to redraw. Users report moving the mouse over the blank area will cause it to repaint.
We have not seen this issue with Firefox or (surprisingly) Edge. Upgrading to 16.0.0 does not seem to help the issue.
Thanks to the other users for their feedback – sanity check, you know! And yes, no issues w/Edge. While demoing I have to make sure I use this browser. Hopefully we can get a resolution soon.
We are experiencing the disappearing rows of data within the grid (in Chrome only) as well. We will be deploying a new site in November 2023 and would appreciate any response or update on the progress of a fix to this issue.
To duplicate the issue
1. go to your demo page https://www.jqwidgets.com/jquery-widgets-demo/demos/jqxgrid/index.htm#demos/jqxgrid/cellediting.htm
2. change the theme to something different (like Material Green)
3. place your cursor over the browser tab you are on (rows disappear in the grid)Hi,
Thank you all for the feedback regarding the issue. It seems to be related with a recent Chrome update.
We will investigate what’s the cause and work on resolving it for our next release.Best regards,

Can you let us know if this issue was fixed in v17.01 dated Oct 19,2023 ?Thanks!
RobHi,
I successfully loaded v17.01 and it seems the issues is resolved.I no longer see any disappearing rows in Chrome whether hardware acceleration is ON or OFF.
Thank you for the quick fix!
