Hi All,
How to specify width of jqxgrid or jqxtabs in percentages like 100% instead of in terms of pixels to cater for different screen sizes.
The below code is not displaying the grid at all:
$("#jqxgrid").jqxGrid( { width : '100%', source : dataAdapter, editable : true, theme: 'energyblue', selectionmode : 'singlecell', sortable : true,
With jqWidgets ver. 2.1, it is possible to set the Grid and Tabs width and/or height in percentages.
The example code below creates a Grid and Tabs widgets that fit to the size of the browser’s window.
<!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en"><head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="../../jqwidgets/styles/jqx.base.css" type="text/css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../scripts/gettheme.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../scripts/jquery-1.7.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxcore.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxtabs.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxcheckbox.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxdata.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxbuttons.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxscrollbar.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxmenu.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxgrid.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxgrid.selection.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxgrid.columnsresize.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxlistbox.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../jqwidgets/jqxdropdownlist.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { // prepare the data var data = new Array(); var firstNames = [ "Andrew", "Nancy", "Shelley", "Regina", "Yoshi", "Antoni", "Mayumi", "Ian", "Peter", "Lars", "Petra", "Martin", "Sven", "Elio", "Beate", "Cheryl", "Michael", "Guylene" ]; var lastNames = [ "Fuller", "Davolio", "Burke", "Murphy", "Nagase", "Saavedra", "Ohno", "Devling", "Wilson", "Peterson", "Winkler", "Bein", "Petersen", "Rossi", "Vileid", "Saylor", "Bjorn", "Nodier" ]; var productNames = [ "Black Tea", "Green Tea", "Caffe Espresso", "Doubleshot Espresso", "Caffe Latte", "White Chocolate Mocha", "Cramel Latte", "Caffe Americano", "Cappuccino", "Espresso Truffle", "Espresso con Panna", "Peppermint Mocha Twist" ]; var priceValues = [ "2.25", "1.5", "3.0", "3.3", "4.5", "3.6", "3.8", "2.5", "5.0", "1.75", "3.25", "4.0" ]; for (var i = 0; i < 200; i++) { var row = {}; var productindex = Math.floor(Math.random() * productNames.length); var price = parseFloat(priceValues[productindex]); var quantity = 1 + Math.round(Math.random() * 10); row["firstname"] = firstNames[Math.floor(Math.random() * firstNames.length)]; row["lastname"] = lastNames[Math.floor(Math.random() * lastNames.length)]; row["productname"] = productNames[productindex]; row["price"] = price; row["quantity"] = quantity; row["total"] = price * quantity; data[i] = row; } var source = { localdata: data, datatype: "array" }; var dataAdapter = new $.jqx.dataAdapter(source); // Create jqxTabs. $('#jqxTabs').jqxTabs({ width: '100%', height: '100%' }); $("#jqxGrid").jqxGrid( { width: '100%', height: '100%', source: dataAdapter, columns: [ { text: 'First Name', dataField: 'firstname', width: 100 }, { text: 'Last Name', dataField: 'lastname', width: 100 }, { text: 'Product', dataField: 'productname', width: 180 }, { text: 'Quantity', dataField: 'quantity', width: 80, cellsalign: 'right' }, { text: 'Unit Price', dataField: 'price', width: 90, cellsalign: 'right', cellsformat: 'c2' }, { text: 'Total', dataField: 'total', cellsalign: 'right', cellsformat: 'c2' } ] }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> html, body { height: 100%; width: 100%; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; overflow: hidden; } </style></head><body class='default'> <div id='jqxTabs'> <ul> <li style="margin-left: 30px;">Tab 1</li> <li>Tab 2</li> </ul> <div style="overflow: hidden;"> <div id="jqxGrid"> </div> </div> <div> </div> </div></body></html>

http://www.jqwidgets.comHi Peter,
this solution does not 100% work. In your example the grid is not rendered correctly (width and height 100%) when you put it on the second tab. In that case width and height are only 100 pixels.
Is there a solution for that?
thanks and best regards,
HaraldHi Harald,
The last post is from 6 months ago. The situation at present is different. I suggest you to take a look at the jqxTabs Integration sample. It demonstrates how to use jqxGrid with jqxTabs.

http://www.jqwidgets.comHi Peter,
I guess you mean the initTabContent property – yes, that helped!
thanks
HaraldHi Peter,
My objective is to set the grid width to 100% – don’t care about tabs. Saw the tab integration example, setting the width of the grid to 100% is not working and sets the grid width to 100px.
Any updates to how to set the grid width to 100% is appreciated.
Thanks, Jim
Hi
Setting the Grid’s Width or Height in percentages works fine with jQWidgets 2.8 and we do not have issues with that.
