Grid filter not applied

We ran into a strange behavior which I was able to reproduce by modifying the jsFiddle example for clearfilters.
– Browse to http://jsfiddle.net/4qph821h
– In the filter box for “Quantity”, type 6 => the grid is filtered
– Click “Clear filters”
– In the filter box for “Quantity”, type 6 => nothing happens

When you press enter, the filter is applied. This is still pretty confusing for end-users. Any advice?
